When I scrolled through my Instagram this morning I came across this picture.
And what a powerful one it is.
In the picture, you see Marios Giannakou, a Greek long-distance runner who befriended 22-year-old biology student Eleftheria Tosiou, who is wheelchair-bound.
Eleftheria's dream was the summit of Mount Olympus.
Marios decided after climbing Mount Olympus over 50 times himself that it seemed only natural for him to carry Eleftheria up the mountain to reach the highest peak Mount Mytikas.
They were accompanied by a support team and Eleftheria was harnessed in a specifically modified backpack.
His words under the picture translate roughly to “There is nothing more real than the dream."
Even though Greek mythology is filled with heroes, it is great to see that there are some real-life heroes out there who generally care about the wellbeing of another person.
The story of Atlas came alive again when Marios lifted the heavens aloft for Eleftheria.
This story not just made my day, it shows me also that we as humans can lift others up we if we choose too.
