We're honored to be sponsors of our local Rugby League club, Leigh Leopards (formerly known as Leigh Centurions) for the fifth year running in 2024.

 

Founded back in 1878, Leigh RLFC holds a prestigious place in history as one of the original twenty-two clubs that laid the foundation for the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895.

 

Leigh moved into their new 12,500-capacity stadium, being made up of 10,000 seats, and a standing terrace of approximately 2,500 in late December 2008. 

 

On Thursday 21 May 2009, the Queen and Prince Philip visited the region to officially open Leigh Sports Village.

 

The stadium forms part of the Leigh Sports Village complex.

 

The old ground at Hilton Park has been demolished and the land sold for housing development.

 

The club was known simply as Leigh until 1995, when it became known as Leigh Centurions. On 20 October 2022, the club rebranded to its current identity, the Leigh Leopards.

 

Leigh have been Rugby League Champions twice, in 1906 and 1982, and have won the Challenge Cup twice, in 1921 and 1971. 

 

In 2022 Leigh reached the final of the RFL´s AB Sundecks 1895 Cup against Featherstone Rovers winning the match 30-16. It was Leigh's first triumph in the competition.

 

Leigh also finished top of the League in the regular season of the Betfred Championship and won the Million Pound Games against Batley Bulldogs after having overcome York City Knights in the semi-final of the playoffs.

 

In 2023 Leigh won the 122nd Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium defeating Hull Kingston Rovers by 17 points to 16. The thrilling victory came in the form of a dramatic golden-point win, with Lachlan Lam sealing the triumph by scoring a crucial drop goal.
